Welcome to the homepage of the Chippewa Valley chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Wisconsin - or, in shorter form, ACLU-WI CVC. On these pages, we’ll try to provide information about local issues and links to information about national concerns. If you have any comments or questions, please let us know.
Who We Are
The ACLU-WI CVC, also known as the Chippewa Valley Civil Liberties Union (CVCLU), is a chapter of the ACLU of Wisconsin — an affiliate of the ACLU — with members in Chippewa, Dunn, and Eau Claire Counties.
Purpose
The purpose of the ACLU-WI CVC is to advance the ACLU’s mission of liberty and justice for all. In coordination with the ACLU of Wisconsin staff and board, we
– identify local civil liberties issues and work to resolve them,
– help advance the ACLU’s state and national work on civil liberties issues,
– help educate the public about civil liberties and the ACLU, and
– encourage people to join and support the ACLU.
We do not offer legal services, but we may direct appeals for legal assistance to the ACLU of WI if they are civil liberties cases.
